The Setup & Equipment:
Snap to It: Make sure the rubber bands are evenly placed and tensioned before each game.
The Ammo: To start, each player draws 4 fresh Bukeyes from the pouch.
Keep Count: Use the built-in scoring tee to track the game.
The Flow of Play
Hold Your Bord: You HAVE to hold onto your Bukeyes. They must remain in your hands until thrown!
Alternating Frames: Player 1 throws all 4 of their Bukeyes, one at a time. Then, Player 2 throws all 4 of theirs, one at a time.
Fresh Perspective: After each game, put the Bukeyes back into the pouch, draw 4 new ones, and switch sides of the board.
🚫 The Lines (Watch Your Step)
The Hand Fault Line (First Single Line): Do not cross this line when throwing! Treat it like bowling, shuffleboard, or beer pong. Cross it, and your shot doesn't count.
The Negative Zone (Second Double Line): The area inside the middle of the double lines is the Negative Point Zone. Land here, and it’s going to cost you.
📊 Scoring System
Bukbord uses a classic cancellation scoring system (similar to cornhole/bags). Point values are determined at the end of each round based on where the Bukeyes rest.
🕳️ In the Hole: 2 Points
⭕ In the Circle: 1 Point (must have 51% mass inside circle)
⚠️ Off the Table: -1 Point (Place the lost Bukeye on the side of the board to track it).
Cancellation in Action: If Player 1 scores 4 points and Player 2 scores 2 points, Player 1 adds 2 points to the scoreboard for that round.
🏁 Winning the Game
The first player to reach 11 Points (and win by 2) claims ultimate bragging rights.
🤲 The Ultimate Risk/Reward: The Catch Mechanic:
If a Bukeye is flying off the table, the defending player has a split-second choice to make:
Let It Drop: You can let the Bukeye hit the ground to guarantee your opponent takes a -1 negative point for the round.
Go for the Catch: If you successfully catch the Bukeye before it hits the ground, you earn an Extra Throw for that round!
The Bobble Risk: If you attempt to catch it but drop it—or if it contacts any part of your body and hits the ground anyway—the negative point is wiped away. Your opponent escapes the penalty, and you get no extra throw.
This is such a killer rule set. The choice between taking the point or risking a catch for an extra throw adds so much strategy.
